What are the advantages or disadvantages due to using a washer with hardness higher than specified in a certain application
EX: using Washer with 410 HV10 (its Sp. Value : 250 to 380 HV10) with bolt 360 HV10 & nut 280 HV10 ( 1st Case )
or using washer 200 HV10 with the same bolt and nut ( 2nd Case )

If in a static application, it makes no real difference. If in a dynamic application, higher hardness might lead to cracking, depending on the application.

do you want the washer to crush under the preload or do you want to deform the part (under the washer) ?

generally washer are sacrifical ...

another day in paradise, or is paradise one day closer ?

perhaps we should have a philosophy forum? [thumbsup]

Since we can only see 3 dimensions and physicists tell us there are more than 3 dimensions, we can argue that paradise is in our midst, except we can't see it.
