The way to get old version API 650 (7th or 8th)??

Dear all

Is there any other way to get an API 650 7th(1982) or 8th(1988) Edition?
I want to know about wind stiffener design criteria at that time, and the way how to calculate Design External Pressure.

I already checked out that there was only one paragraph, in 9th(1993) edi., about external pressure saying that
"if tanks that meet minimum standards of standard may be subjected to 1 inch of water pressure".

I have paper copies of the 7th Edition (Nov. 1980) and Revision 1 of the 7th Edition (Feb. 1984) that I can scan for you later today. Do you have a preference?

I'm pretty sure neither version had anything more to say about external pressure, other than maybe the statement quoted above in the 9th version.
If you're trying to rerate an old tank for additional external pressure, refer to API-653 to confirm which version is used for the re-rate (probably the newest).

Thank you for reply. I prefer revision 1 of the 7th Edition.

You are welcome. I will scan it this evening and post it when I am done.

API keeps old copies - call them...

Our copies/scanner has a problem, so I will have to try again tomorrow after it gets fixed.

I do not remember a clause for external pressure of 1 inch of water pressure. I have paper copy of 8th ed. and try to find . As far as i remember , the external pressure shall be stated by purchaser .

You may look the following link and if you wish you can download.

The clause for 1 inch of water pressure I thought was in API-620, not API-650. Then API-650 included 1"/ 5 psf for internal vacuum in the design loads stated for wind girder design.
That said, I just looked though the 7th Edition and don't see either statement in there anywhere. The formulas for the wind girder just state the formula, but not the loading assumptions behind it.

Finally! The automatic paper feeder for copying and scanning kept jamming, but that's fixed now. There's nothing that duct tape, WD-40, and a 10-lb sledgehammer can't fix.

My paper copy of this document was already about a third generation xerox. I received it from a client that I had in the mid-1980s and all of the makings in it are by him or his colleagues.
