Here is a link to a thermal design handbook from MIT.. It contains a lot of useful theory and practical information. Useful for terrestrial applications too.

If the link doesn't work, remove the "%20" three places and replace with a space at each location or do a search for Spacecraft Thermal Control Handbook.

May you find it useful!

Thanks, oddly enough, just this morning I was looking at the same book in hard cover, wondering whether a softcopy available.

Of course I can. I can do anything. I can do absolutely anything. I'm an expert!

Thanks for the link.

The design of both launch vehicles and spacecraft is one big giant thermal problem. I spent some time working on the Space Shuttle program. And it always amazed me just how complex the thermal problems were on that project. There was the situation of displacement in the structural attachments between the orbiter and the external fuel tank caused by the huge amount of cryo-shrinkage that occurred when the tank was filled. There was also the problem of thermal mismatch strain isolation between the various parts of the thermal protection system and the orbiter's metal airframe. There were the problems resulting from having to restrain a large, delicate payload while also isolating it from the thermal distortions occurring in the airframe. Many of the aluminum structures in the payload bay had to be covered with thermal blankets to protect them from overheating. Every mechanism on the vehicle had to be designed to accommodate large amounts of thermal distortions without seizing up.
