my task is create a temperature profile of a clylindrical glass lens that is heated thru convection along its circumfernce. it loses heat via convection and radiation on its planar surfaces.
i would like to know if i have to model the air that surrounds the lens. if i simply apply a convection load to the surface, how does ansys know that the lens is surrounded with air? does it matter? thanks!!
