thermal grooving 2

ASME secI PW-40.1 has a clear explanation of how a weld defect must be removed ---but if anyone could please explain to me what thermal grooving id sure appreciate it.

Yes, this means arc gouging or carbon arc gouging.
 
Adding a little to the post by metengr. Every welder can use an Arc-Air rig or gouging rod, but only a few have the skill and fitness to do the job correctly. We have probably five out 26 welders that were allowed to use either process. Do correctly cleanup is a breeze if not you will wear out several fitters and grinders.
