Hello All,

I am working on a project in which our client has requested us to provide thermal insulation for some high temperature centrifugal pumps such as steam condensate pumps to save the energy and as personal protection.

does anyone have experience with this type of insulation for centrifugal pumps?

how is it installed on the pump? is there any clips or handle for fixing the insulation to the pump?

our pump vendor doesn't have any experience with these insulation.

it will be appreciated if anyone provide photograph of installed insulation on centrifugal pumps and the way it is installed on the pump.

Thank you all in advance for any feedback that you may be able to offer.

There are a number of companies that make these removable insulation blankets. Suggest you review them before you purchase one.

Mechanical maintenance engineers loathe insulation around pumps - if your mechanical engineers arent keen on this also, a typical solution is a simple chain barrier around the pump for personnel protection with a warning sign posted next to it.

Pump insulation can be installed for three reasons. The first is to protect personnel from getting burned. The second is to save energy. The third is for reliability. API pumps in very hot service should be insulated to keep the pedestals as cold supports so that coupling alignment is maintained. Insulation may be needed to limit radiant heat from causing high temperatures in the bearing housing. Is the pump API or ANSI? What is the pump configuration? How hot is the service?

We have an on-site insulation contractor who makes custom insulation blankets for our pumps. They are made in sections and wired together with stainless wire. There are no clips on the pump. You may have heard of the brand name Tani for removable blankets for valves. This is the same concept.

Thank you all for your feedback.

Dear JJPELLIN

Most of our project pumps are API 610 OH2 Type. the service Temperature is more than 85 C.
