Dear All
This is the first time I want to perform fatigue calculations based on Sec.VIII div.2 and have got some problems. I am using Ed.2015 of the code.
In the assessment procedure mentioned in 5.5.3.2 it is necessary to calculate the stresses σLTij . The procedure for calculating these stresses is explained in annex. 5-C. My problem is that in part 5-C.3.2 the formula 5-C.5 for Tp does not look correct. This formula can be correct in the following form:
Tp=T-(Tavg+Tb) if Tp is required at the surface. Or in the more general form as:
Tp=T-(Tavg+(1-2x/t)Tb) if Tp is required through arbitrary points on the thickness.
After all, the expression for Tp in Eq. 5-C.5 is not true at all because of the dimensional difference between Tavg and 2Tb/t.
Can anybody help me understand if I am missing something here or if I am right.
Warm Regards.
