I am curious how often heater tube inspections are being done in you facilities, and with what sucess. I am trying to get information together for a presentation.

thank you,

The detail inspection should be carried out in every turnaround. Because, in normal operation period you have no chance to have the detail inspection. This could help you to predict the remaining life of your heater tube.

If I had an IR camera, I would start with a 3-monthly scan to build historal data about the heater operational mode. Also every significant deviation of normal operating conditions, like a prolonged reduction of 80% capacity run, would also be a good candidate to enter the files.

This is based on common sense since I do not have a IR camera (yet)
