This may be a slight departure... But I'm wondering if any of y'all...
I can say "Y'all" 'cause I'm from TN
are going to the Midwest SolidWorks User Conference in Milwaukee this Thursday.
This'll be my first time - just wondering what to expect.

Your coming all the way from TN to WI for a one day user group session? I would wait and go to SolidWorks World in FL in January. I went too this years and it rocked. You pick up alot of things from the sessions and form talking to other companies that attend. I will be attending next years also. If you are close by to the User Conference in Milwaukee it probalby would be worth while taking a look. If you have to travel a great distance(fly) I do not know that it would be worth it. Sorry, should've clarified.
I'm originally from TN - been in central WI for 4 years.
I still get to say "y'all" though, it's in the blood.

So who's goin' to this "barn dance"?

TateJ,

How was the conference? Did Y'all get anything out of it? BBJT CSWP

Excellent!
We saw SolidWorks 2003.
There will be some rudimentary finite element analysis & animation tools built-in.
Many of the regular tools have been improved.
I'm looking forward to it.
We're going to try to convince management to buy into the Smarteam PDM package - because of what we learned.
It was well worth the cost and time to go.

TateJ, what is making you look closer at SmartTeam over PDMworks? Is it overall features, or does it relate directly to something new with SW03? "The attempt and not the deed confounds us."

We have a ERC system that uses an Access database, but it has a cumbersome user interface.
We think Smartools could replace it and run the database we already invested time and $$$.
PDMWorks is our fall-back plan if we can't sell managemant on Smarteam.
As I recall, Smarteam is 100% seamless with 2003. It basically adds another tab to the feature manager, just like any other add-on pacjage.
