This might sound like a very silly question but I can not seem to find the Addin wizard icon. Do I need to install and further software?

Add-ins can be found at Tools> Add-ins.

Not sure if this is what you are referring to.

Have you read faq731-376 to make the best use of Eng-Tips Forums?

I have read a number of threads that refer to creating a solidworks addin using an Addin wizard. Is there such a thing?

That's a VB thing, not a SW thing. Be careful not to confuse the two, they are not the same.

There is an addin template for VB6 available gratis at BitWright.com.

Once you have created an addin .dll file, you can add it to SW by opening the file in SW using File --> Open" or drag-and-srop the .dll into SW. e sure that file is in the folder you want to keep it before installing in SW.
