Hello,

I am building a helical staircase in solidworks, and I am having a few issues with holes in the curved stringers bolted to an endplate.
I have 2 curved pieces of steel one inside the other. The holes in smaller inner piece are defined by dimensions. see attached file
The hole series feature will not work on curves (I use this on flat stringers).
Not sure how to solve this. Help!

Regards
Geoff

Thanks Jeff.

My problem is getting the holes through each part to line up.
The hole wizard can do the holes in the assembly, but I need them in each part for unfolding.
Once I have the holes for the first tread I plan to do a pattern, as you've suggested.

Make cuts to your inner stringer in-context from your outer using extrude cut.

You misght try using the outer string hole axes ("temporary axes") to get hole positions located on the inner. Use points in a 3D sketch as a layout feature to mark the locations on the inner stringer, then cut holes.

Thanks the tick,
I am new at SWX, so I am struggling a bit with your method. I have the axis ok, but it disappears when I add holes in another part. I will keep trying though!
