thread301-191935
There was a great thread back in 2007 thread301-191935
It was regarding a company that was moving and their black oxide could no longer be discharged because of a septic system in the new location
I am installing a class 1 and 4 black oxide in Massachusetts. I do have the ability to discharge but between getting someone licensed to monitor the discharge and the dep looking for wastewater reduction I would prefer to go zero discharge
The tank system is going to be
Alkaline wash / double rinse/ acid prep / rinse / class 4 tank / class 1 tank/ wash / rinse / oil dip
I realize we need to cover the class one tank to prevent the 4 from contaminating 1. This will be done with a simple cover with sides angled back towards 4 to drain back into the tank. I was thinking of reusing the wash after the black oxide to regulate the temp on the two black oxides but the wash will have cross contamination from using the wash rinse for both processes
Right now the line is setup for all the counterflows to go into a main tank where we we transfer it to a flock tank then thru a filter press. From there we are either going to evaporate or reuse based on the feedback I can get on what I should do
I should add that I was thinking of pretreating the main tank for ph before going to the flock tank
I look forward to everyone’s thoughts
