I have one magnet as your figure, it is at home since the twenties, I guess.

Do you know of what machine it was part?

Recommended for you

Most likely a motor or a magneto (generator/alternator) so some sort.
Often there would be inner and outer ones stacked, and then two or three pair in a row in order to get enough field.
