Any footing (including strap/cantilever) can have as many columns as needed... provided the footing is sized and shaped so that the footing contact pressure with soil is essentially uniform.
I suppose a lot of the example problems you might see for a strap footing wouldn't directly apply. So, you'd have to use 1st principles to get your shear and moment diagrams and such.
