Thumbnail View has ICON

When I open a folder and use the thumbnail view some parts have the part or assy icon for the thumbnail and others have a thumbnail of the actual part or assy. How do I change the ones with the PART & ASSY icons?

I believe the file has to be opened recently for the thumbnail to be a preview.
