I am working with an end-unit townhouse (circa 1984) that was demolished. The 8" CMU block firewall remains intact. The demolished townhouse will not be rebuilt. The existing firewall will remain and will become the new "exterior wall".
I have access to the original drawings for the townhomes but they don't give any indication that the wall is reinforced or grouted. There are no details for break away connections to the floor joist or roof trusses. So I believe this wall is a freestanding wall with no anchorage.
Does anyone have an idea of how to tie the CMU wall to the second floor and roof diaphragm without entering the house?
