Widening an existing timber beam bridge with transverse timber deck planks to one side with longitudinal glulam panels. To match the existing structure we are planning to use transverse timber deck planks on the proposed glulam widening panels. Utilizing a different deck system or an bituminous concrete wearing surface is not an option since the existing portion of the structure is to remain. My main concern is the need for waterproofing the glulam widening panels. Anyone with any experience in this area that could help?
