I've worked on a number of projects where someone has suggested using Timber Screws. What are Timber Screws?

In the applications I deal with I need screw lengths from 8" to 12". The only thing I have found are some screws which have a hex drive head and a cutting point with no threads or hex head screws with about 2" of thread.

Generally what I need is something like a Simpson SDS screw, except it needs to be 8" to 12" long.

Are they referring to Lag Screws?

Try OlyLogs, they are used in timber framing and mostly in log construction.

Thank you all for the good information. It appears that the proper term is log screws. When I did a search under log screws I found a number of different suppliers.

I also learned that Oly Logs manufactures a log screw with a three inch log thread.
