tiny hydraulic line with o-ring

there are ~3/16 inch diameter steel lines on my Volvo 240 power steering rack. They look so much like brake lines I was expecting to see bubble flared fittings on each end. Instead there is a small o-ring bearing against a small shoulder or flange either formed in the tubing or perhaps brazed in place.

Is this an "official" type of fitting? What is it called, so I can order some parts?

Probably an sae-orb fitting. Orb stands for o-ring boss.

It is likely proprietory to volvo, likely using metric threads.

There is a beaded tube flange used in air conditioning, larger tubes, but does your tube look like this?

Ted's link above is to a 'lite' version of the ORFS joint. The actual ORFS joint is much heavier and higher pressures. We use ORFS almost exclusively, but I didn't know there was a 'lite' version for lower pressures and lower costs. Learn every day.
