Tiny solenoid / Actuator 1

Hey all,

Im looking to source a small actuator/ solenoid in the sub 15mm long for a small product. Ive been looking at the Miga Muscle type actuators but the stroke has to be pulled back with a spring as it only contracts and does not retract, plus I have to keep pulsing it (the Miga Motor that is) . Im looking at a 3/5mm stroke. Anyone have any ideas?

Solenoid dia? 2mm
Supply current? 5V/2A
Force vs stroke? Force 0.5N/mm2 Stroke 4/5mm
On and Off response time? 500ms max

0.5N/mm2 is pressure, not force!!
Getting 0.5N (~50 grams) force from a 2mm dia X 15mm long solenoid with 4 to 5 mm stroke is not possible to my best knowledge.

Hi Israelkk,

I'm not looking for pressure/force at the other end of the solenoid as I'm using the shaft on the solenoid to block a returning cam.

Do you have any ideas of companies that would make small solenoids?

And the 2mm diameter is the shaft diameter. The solenoid diameter i would be looking at would be in around 10mm

How you block the cam without exerting force? Even a side force will create friction force that the solenoid needs to overcome.
Are you looking for a custom made solenoid or off the shelf one?
I am not familiar with such an off the shelf solenoid.
