Hi all,

I'm a very beginner user of SAP2000. I've developed a truss bridge model, but I'm not able to analyse it.

Firstly, I would like to add to the deck, which now is just a simple rectangle, the railway tracks, do you kindly have any idea to add and model them?

Then,I would like to make an analysis of the bridge when a train is passing over it, but I really don't know how to do that, any tips?

Finally, I'd like to export the displacements patterns of the analysis to excel, can I do that?

thank you for your time and cooperation.

Regards

I suggest to use CSiBridge for doing bridge analysis.
Yet if you insist to do with SAP2K:

-Define lanes as per the requirement of analysis. I strongly recommend to use shell if your deck is concrete, otherwise use beam elements if they are steel girders
-Again you need to define moving load (In CSiBridge you have ranges of vehicles readily defined based on different design codes). You may define either as lane/point load ->again depends on what is the requirement of analysis for your work
-After completing analysis, just hit ctrl+T < select analysis output < joint displacement < select needed load cases < then export nicely to Excel for plotting

Shoot for the Moon, even if U miss, U still land among Stars!
