I am looking for a standard (ASTM or otherwise) for the diffusion bonding of titanium to titanium (alloy Ti-6Al-4V). I have checked ASTM as well as two standards aggregators (IHS/Global and Document Center), and have not found anything. There may not be anything to find; however, I am making this last-ditch effort to ask the community about it.

Thanks.

I don't believe you will find an industry standard for this. Maybe/probably Boeing, Lockheed Martin, etc. have proprietary standards for diffusion bonding of titanium, but there are no SAE or ASTM standards for it.

Diffusion bonding is a welding process, hence you would not find ASTM for this process.

If you are looking for parameters the the best bet will be AWS. I have come accross diffusion bonding in AWS journals.

Since diffusion bonding is manufacturing process you may apply ASME Sec VIII Div 1 (Treating this as another solid state welding).

If you are looking for basics on diffusion bonding you may refer to AWS DATA SHEET 251a Welding Work book.

You may visit Heatric web site (They are involved in manufacture of diffusion bonded vessels/exchangers)

Alternatively you may see Welding Hand Book, Vol2 Eigth edition.
