I am trying to create a brand new title block for all US customary sizes (A,B,C,D & E). I have used the help menu and it says to go to INSERT then LAYOUT then CREATE LAYOUT WIZARD. I went through these steps and I do not want to create a layout, but I do want to create my own Title Block that is specific to our company. Can anyone lead me through this process.

Thanks in advance,

For each size:

1. Start a new drawing
2. Draw the title block 1:1
3. Insert default text for drawing name, drawn by ...
4. Configure standard formats for text
5. Insert all standard notes (tolerance ...)
6. Assign attributes to the text such as Drawn By, Date,
Drawing Name, etc. For example, call the drawn by text
'DrawnBy'
7. WBLOCK the entities and set the insertion point to 0,0

Then, when you want to make a new drawing, you insert the BLOCK into your drawing at the current drawing scale. If you type DATTE and select the block, you will be prompted for the title block data that you setup with attributes. This beats inserting text and prevents you from exploding the block.

I am sure that there are hundreds of ways to accomplish this, but we have written programs that utilize this format to automate our product design. DimensionalSolutions@Core.com

I forgot to mention something if you are using AutoCAD 2000. Once you have your title blocks drawn up, I can help you write a small program that will automatically insert the title blocks for the user. I can show you how to set up a custom menu so that the user only has to pick the function 'Insert Title Block' from the menu, enter the drawing size and hit OK. This will streamline the entire process and prevent the user from having to search for the title block drawing.

Hope this helps! DimensionalSolutions@Core.com

I wrote a pulldown customized menu for this for AutoCAD 12 a few years ago and updated it for AutoCAD 2000. You add it to the menu bar. It calls out drawing sizes A through E and for each size it calls out a scale (4X, 2X, Full, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8). It also adds a Revision Block and has Attribute Extraction (for title & revision block data for downloading into a database or spreadsheet). If you would like a copy, let me know and I will e-mail it to you.

Attributes are a great way to go. I can make up any field I want and add it to the title block any time. If you are as picky as I, create the first title block and scale it down or up to create the next sixe and do a "save as". This will bring up the title block field in the exact same order no matter which size you insert. Whoever created the title blocks for my company did not do that and the field come up different for each title block size. It is very annoying. Tommy

I would like a copy of the program written to automatically insert title blocks into your drawing. Thanks very much in advance for your kindness. Hopefully, I can be of help to you or someone else soon.

bwood2800,
Let me know your e-mail address so that I can send you a zipped file with the menu addition & a readme text file.
By the way I agree with TWong in that all your title blocks
should have all the same info. Ours are all the exactly the same, including size. Steve Smith
