BrunoA started a thread earlier about this subject and I was not sure about starting another or jumping on the end of his. So apologies if incorrect.
Can the scale be entered automatically. Promted entry is fine but I have to remember what scale I used and may get it wrong. Less manual entry the better.
Setting up templates is not clear. Some I get to work others will not.Comments would be useful to use but whatever I do to it, it will not link to a border. Some titles in iproperties mean nothing to us. Others we need are not there. Can we add our own and how.
This is the first task most people do when picking up a new CAD program but it does not seem clearly explained in the help files. Are there any good tutorials covering this subject. Many thanks for any thoughts on this Clive

At first glance I would say no. The view scale is not an iProperty or a parameter so I don't think it is available for use in templates. There may be a way to create a macro for this but this is not my area of expertise so I can't say for certain.

I would however question the necessity of putting the scale in a title block at all. Back in the board days it was a requirement because you would need to know what the scale was so that you could duplicate or edit the print accurately. Now however there is no valid reason for someone to measure on your print and any missing information can be queried from the file. Nine times out of ten you will be printing to an A or B sized sheet so the scale will have no meaning anyway.

I know exactly what you mean whilst working in Inventor. However when it is exported through dwg to a AutoCad based user they may need to know what scale has beed used to get the object on the sheet and so when they for example take blocks out they can get back to full size.
Odd also that when you make a window view on a drawing it sticks the new scale on the view but does not have parameters in place to put the base scale on the drawing.

Scaling apart any other thoughts on getting borders customised to specific requirements

You can show the scale on the individual views which in my eyes are more valid. RMB on the view, Edit View, then click on the little lightbulb icon next to the scale so it lights up. You can do the same with the label and change it to something appropriate. This is better because if you have different views plus detail views you tend to have different scales.
