Hello,

Running NX 7.5.5.4 XP 32 Bit

We use a saved part that contains our title blocks and import the title block part into our existing part. When someone else in the office saves a title block for me I am able to open the part and the title block with the text in the title block is available.

However, when I try to import the title block part. The lines come in but not the text. I have checked the layers, and the display. It just isn't pulling in the text portion.

What settings do I need to change?

Thanks

Hello,

Anyone else having this problem should know it works when I version up all drafting objects.

Is there anyway to do this automatically?

Hello all,

It was not the text preferences, but I think it has to do with the loading options?

Ran into this again in Window 7 64 bit, it is not the font issue. The weird think is that if you open both the importer and the imported file the imported file will display correctly, but the importer file will not. Again, no text; however, if you hit save with both windows open, the text displays on the importer file correctly this time.

Any Suggestions?

Still sounds like a Font issue.

Open the part with the text already in it (what I think you're referring to as the 'imported' part) and check to see what Font is being used by the notes (just select one of the notes, press MB3 and select 'Style' and you will see the current font assigned). Now close this part and open the part that you wish to import the other part into (what I think you're referring to as the 'importer' part). Now while in the Drafting module, go to...

Preferences -> Annotation...

...and see what the default text Font is. If they are the same you should be good to go. However, if they are not, try this; change the Font to what the Font was set in the 'imported' part and then create a note. After it's created, delete it (DO NOT UNDO). Now import your 'imported' part as you normally would and see if things look like they should.

John I did that, that was how I came upon the workaround. The font in the title blocks is blockfront. It is the 1. Font in Character Fonts and in the Customer Defaults, it is also the default font in all of the lettering options in the preferences.

Here is the sequence:
1) Opened Importer file
2) Opened Imported file (all text is visible)
3) Import file (title block lines shown, text not)
4) Hit Save on Imported file
5) Text visible on Importer file

Parallel Sequence
1) Opened Importer file
2) Opened Imported file (all text is visible)
3) Import file (title block lines shown, text not)
4) Add note to Imported file, save
5) Title block text visible in imported File, note text not
6) Add 2nd note to Imported file, Save
7) Title block text and Note 1 text visible note 2 not
8) Save with no changes to Imported file
9) Importer file has all text

When you eventually move to NX 8.0 or NX 8.5, may I suggest that you update your 'standards' to use the new TrueType/OpenType fonts (this does NOT update automatically for existng files) and I suspect that you will no longer have any of these issues.

That being said, when you eventually DO move to NX 8.0 or NX 8.5, you would probably be well served if you were to look into the new Drawing Border and Title Block creation tools and seriously consider setting up your own Drawing Template scheme. And if you're not there yet, I would also start to plan a move to the Master Model Drafting mode.

Thanks, will do. Currently waiting to upgrade based on compatibility with 3rd party CAM software.
