to change a material in part V19 from API 1

I Have a question about API for Solid Edge V19.
I'm using Solid Edge V19 and VB6 to change a name of material for that i'm modifying the variables of. How can I get name of material (e.g. steel, aluminium) for part in Solid Edge from API?

Hi,

not quite clear what you really wanted to do. To get the name
of a material that is assigned to a part you can use the
properties:

Dim sMaterial As String

sMaterial = <oDoc>.Properties.Item("MechanicalModeling")("Material").Value

To assigne a new one you can read the Material.mtl and pull
the values from it
