to get the speed of motor measured

hello, i would like to ask about how to get the speed of an induction motor of 5 kw(asynch)measured when this motor is connected to a dc generator.i would like to do this experement in my laboratory ,so the very detailed electrical scheme and may be a live pictures of the components will help.hope helped

The two main methods are optical and magnetic. For laboratory work optical may be best - typically these can use a small piece of self-adhesive reflective tape on the shaft or coupling, with a laser or optical sensor. The systems are fairly cheap, accurate, easy to set up and have a large speed range. For example see:

Complete units are available from with 4-20mA or 0-10V DC output proportional to speed, that can be hooked up to a datalogger. They even include the reflective tape.
