I am trying to make a new custom set of fuel rails. I have been told that there is a special 'port tool' used to cut the injector holes in the bottom of the fuel rail, that makes the correct radius for the o-rings and such. Can you tell me what this is called and where I can find one please? These would be standard 24#, 36#, 42#, high/low imp., etc. type injectors like those made by Bosch and Lucas.

Any help would be appreciated.

Luke, I just use a standard reamer, then lightly chamfer the entrance. Never have had any problems yet.

I think the size was .546, but you need to verify that yourself, my tools havent been unpacked from the last move yet.

Almost all high performance intake manifold makers supply an injector install tool, even MSD. I did about 20 minutes search and found four of them.

Do a good search, there are plenty to choose from.

Luke,

Ninety percent of the injectors that are used in the aftermarket are designed for use with a 14.0mm (.551") bore for both injector inlet and outlet. No radius is needed in either bore, just a small 45 degree entry chamfer for ease of installation.

We use a modified 14mm end mill. This end mill has a drill ground on the end to reduce tool changes.

Will
