Hi guys,

For a rooftop carpark, would you typically consider carpark imposed load + snow + wind all acting simultaneously? It seems somewhat conservative but it is a potential likely scenario I guess.

Any experience/thoughts?

Thanks

Generally just the live load from parked vehicles or snow load, whichever is greater. Windload almost never plays into the game... I don't know about hurricane or tornado areas...

Rather than think climate change and the corona virus as science, think of it as the wrath of God. Feel any better?

Load combinations are typically specified by the applicable building code. Isn't there a building code governing your project?

The following para's may help to get the concept , which are copy and paste from ; PCI Parking Structures: Recommended Practice for Design and Construction ;

IMO , you should consider for the ULS loading ..Look your local code ..

You may also need to consider areas where snow will be plowed and stored. Sometimes this can be avoid if there is an opening in the perimeter wall to allow snow to be pushed off.
