hello guys

i have a problem and i don't really know how to solve it,

i have a solid, and what i do, is to save it as a IGES to import it to PATRAN to do a analysis, the issue is that when i try to mesh the solid PATRAN gave me an error that said bad topology or geometry, and i was checking on CATIA different ways to verify that there is no open body or something like that,

how can i verify the geometry or the topology in my solid or it can be a problem with PATRAN

hope you can help me with this, thankyou

Not really. CATIA allows you to create non-manifold geometry, think of a flat plate with a circular pocket in it that touches the edge tangentially creating a line of zero thickness in the plate.

PATRAN might not handle this. Non-manifold geometry in industrial-grade models can be very difficult to spot unlike the simple example I gave above. It sucks that CATIA allows this, in my opinion.

All you can try is export to a .STEP and also check out the options for your export in Tools>Options>General>Compatibility>IGES tab or STEP tab.
