Torsion on abaqus isn't possible?

Hello,

i try to do a torsional test on abaqus in a cylinder.

I block the lower surface and i put a rotation of 0.5rad on the upper surface, but the result isn't conform:

==> the V.M. stress are null

Can you help me please? How put a rotation on my test tube

Have a look at using a reference point and a coupling constraint. You can couple the reference point to a node set, then apply the torsion to the reference node.

Look up "Kinematic Coupling Constraints" in the ABAQUS Users Manual - there is an example there of how to apply a torsion load.

thanks a lot,

i have seen "Kinematic Coupling Constraints" it is that i want but i can't do a node set...

it's not possible to do a node set with abaqus 6-7-1 ?
with 6-9-1 it's easy but in my work place i just have the old version 6-7-1

...
 
I'm sure that you can create the coupling constraint in CAE - it's in the Interaction module.

Create the reference point, then create the coupling constraint by picking the ref point and then the surface you want to couple to. CAE will create the node set for you when you mesh the part in the Mesh module.

thanks a lot it's ok for coupling and local CSYS, it works

but when i impose a rotation on the rotation on the master node the slave surface don't rotate.

i thinks this because the V.M. stresses are nearlly null

It should work okay. Have you used a kinematic coupling? Have you coupled the necessary degrees of freedom?

I can't look at your CAE file I'm afraid, as I don't have access to CAE at home.
