Could you please give some recommendations on the following questions:
For variable speed compressor train rated approx. 6 MW power which has two casings - does it make sense to make torsional measurements of critical speeds during mechanical running test or performance test ? Because what would you measure then without accounting for electrical excitations which come from the Motor and converter system ?
In other words, I am guessing that it would only make sense to measure the torsional critical speeds with the complete string either at when the train is commissioned at site or during a special test with complete unit including all the electrical components and eventually at rated torque. Without doing that I would have to blindly rely on the torsional study made by compressor Vendor which sounds not good.
Is this thinking correct ? Could you please share how do you approach these issues from your experience standpoint ?
