Per the Customer Spec, there are 3 category of Nozzle Loads:

a) Due to Weight
b) Due to Thermal
c) Due to Seismic

And they have specified F.lateral , F.axial, M.bending and M.torsion for all the cases.

My question is if the Nozzle is vertical, how is it possible to have Torsional Moment in case of Nozzle Load Due to Weight Alone (gravity acting vertically downwards) ?

Thanks
Kapil

The nozzle loads are due to attached piping. What shape that piping takes could be anything. Most certainly, though, it will have a torsional moment.

Why does it matter?
