Hey Guys!
Im a product-designer (talking about a loving designer and engineer relationship ;) from Germany, and currently I am developing a new product, for which i need a push to open and close latch/push to open mechanism. I did a lot of research before tried to develop my own design, but in face of production and economical coasts I have hit a wall.
The problem is that in the installation space for the mechanism I have to work with is very limited: So the mechanism can only be 25 mm deep and 25mm wide. Most push to open latche mechanisms on the market take up a lot of space ( mm x mm) and only extend out a small distance. This is another problem since the container that is opened through the latch hast to be as exposed as possible to be able to be filled and refilled with capsules. Preferably the container should extend outward for 15mm.

This is an example of the mechanism on the market used in furniture:
My first solution was to use the same mechanism used in pens, but in my case, the container element should not twist, since it is then not possible to refill it..
I tried to develop my own mechanism (I did leave out the back wall of the blue colored housing so you can take a closer look) :
I would appreciate it greatly if someone could share a productive thought or a already existing mechanism on the market, that I haven discovered yet, that could help me to find a solution to this very interesting problem. Any help is welcomed.

The push-push machanisms often used for glass-front display (like the cheap TV cabinets) cases are generally no more than 1" deep, so I would think that would be a good place to start.
