Has anybody got a 'proper' sfc map of this car's engine? best I've managed so far is SAE 2000-01-3096 In-situ mapping and analysis of the Toyota Prius HEV engine

Author(s): Duoba, Michael, Ng, Henry, Larsen, Robert,

Which has a lot of good data, but not a full sfc map.

I'm not familiar with this HEV engine but have you tried the R and VT advanced powertrain engine Benchmarking website within the Ford "intranet"? needs appropriate clearance of course. A cursory glance shows they have data for the Toyota Prius 1.5 I4-4V, I don't know if they have an SFC "onion map" and haven't got the time to check.Alot of it is in technichal German but it's not too hard to decipher.

Sorry folks, accesible to Ford employees only.

Hah, didn't think of that! Should be able to get a login, no probs

The same engine (1NZ-FE) is also used in the Toyota echo (without the hybrid setup of course), if you can find a map for that it should be compatible.

There have been at least two engines in the Prius - one has a red line at 4000, the other at 4500. Redline speed is significant since the crankshaft has been reduced in size to accomodate this low speed.

There's a lot of data on that website, but since I don't read technical German it hasn't done me much good as yet.

Incidentally one trick they use is to match the transmission calibration very closely to the power demand curve, so that they are always on or near the optimum sfc for a given power. Very clever.
