I'm switching the grommets that we design from a rubber material to a thermo plastic elastomer with 400% or so elongation. My question is how do I mechanically remove the gating after the mold opens. Presently the rubber that we use is hand trimmed. Are there any manufactures, tooling companies that do this. any advice?
Thanks
Will

Sir,
I would look at some type of end of arm tooling if you have a robot on the press. You can equip them with snips to trim gates from the parts. Yushin, Star, and many others offer this option but I think you may need a servo driven robot for more control. Good luck.

You can use a overhead robot with vacuum suction to remove the component from the tool, this can then drop it straight onto a degating tool to automate the process.
