We are running a fertilizer complex consisting of Ammonia and Urea plants. Ammonia and CO2 gas are separately fed into Urea plant from Ammonia plant. The CO2 gas is compressed to 143 bar before entering into Urea reactor where it mixes with Ammonia to form Ammonium Carbamate solution. We are facing some vibration and flow dips issues on CO2 compressor. While investigating it was found that the CO2 gas is having of traces of Ammonia (around 36000 ppm. The source of Ammonia is still unknown to us and is under investigation. However we are interested to confirm whether this is a normal phenomenon in Urea plants or is this abnormal? Can it have adverse effects on the compressor? please note that the Ammonia was measured in the condensate drained from the suction Knock out drum of the CO2 compressor
