Hi! Can anyone advise me regards possible training in vibration testing in Europe. My work includes modal analysis in railway environment where I need to determine the changes in soil stiffness and also evaluate the stiffness quantitatively.I'm new in the field of modal testing so any information regards companies which provide these trainings could be helpful.
Thanks.

Is it really necessary to have training to get stiffness information about ground ?

Actually, your choice should depend on your material and data acquisition system.

If you have Pulse system, then go see B&K, Test lab, see LMS, etc ...

I'd suggest it is very hard to learn good experimental modal analysis technique without some advice and demonstration. Measuring static stiffnesses (F/x as f->0) is actually a pretty good test of your technique and instrumentation.

Thanks for the advices.Regards the equipment, I have ICP Impulse Force Test Hammer from PCB Piezotronics, Seika accelerometers and CR9000X Measurement and control system. In my testing I won't use any software for EMA, but need to write the code on my own in MATLAB. Probably , I'll go for the training from B&K just to get a sense of the whole process.
Definitely, it wil be a long and hard journey till I obtain frequencies and mode shapes.

Did you Google: "impact hammer test with matlab"

Is your boss crazy ?
I think he is stupid and you gonna have a lot of trouble and stress with this project...

amanuensis- So in two consecutive posts you've gone from implying that it is trivial to very difficult.

My opinion is depending on the quantity of information I can have about an issue : it's a dynamical process which evolves with time.

It's not the same thing to be a simple user of a tool (such as an EMA software) to do a job and to create the tool.

I know to use an i-phone but I can't make a copy of it...
