How can I move a solid using an axis as a start point and other axis created as the target? Basically, what is the equivalent of Transform/ Create/ Move from Catia V4 in CATIA V5?

Thank you.

You can use axis-to-axis transformation, it is a command in GSD workbench. However, this will only wory on GSD geometry, not solids, so you may have to extract the surfaces, do the transformation, then close the surface into a new part body at the new location.

I just found this thread by accident. (I know it's a little old)

Please note: the "add position" option is not an axis transformation. It just adds a local reference. However, it stil requires multiple independent transformations, which rather defeats the purpose of axis to axis.

I'm at a loss to understand why there is no axis transformation for solid bodies. There are so many different design methods, and not every one ends up in production. I have a design that is being done in V5, and will be converted to V4. (because it's so much faster to design this one in V5) Therefore, a little "hacking and slashing" is tolerable.

can't remember if this is R18 or R19, but "axis-axis" is coming for part design workbench
