NFPA 850 requires separation of 15.2 m between transformer basin and other transformers and buildings. Can this spacing be reduced in the case of using fire sprays / deluge fire fighting system?

IEEE 979 suggest a fire protection system when the distance is less than 15.2m and also discusses using 2h rated walls for any building between 6.1 m and 15.2 m.

If you mean NFPA 850/2010 Edition ch. 5.1.4.4 for Transformer Oil Capacity more than 5000 gal. then 15 m separation without a fire wall is specified in Table 5.1.4.3 Outdoor Oil-Insulated Transformer Separation Criteria. This is only a recommendation. Only Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ). An organization, office, or individual responsible for enforcing the requirements of a code or standard, or for approving equipment, material, an installation, or a procedure has to state this.

Does IEEE 979 allow reducing this distance by any certain figure?

Which is why almost all transformers have fire walls - few places can put three very large transformers 45+ feet away from the building and away from each other.
