Hello,

I would like to know if there is an easy way to calculate transformer inrush current and if there is any IEEE or IEC standard which addresses how to estimate it.

Thanks.

Hi Radug.
We haven't any formulas for xfr. inrush current calculation.
try search in the forum, I think you'll find many information on the topic.

From my point of view, Alehman's answer is fully and shortly.

Radu,

The 12X as noted in Slavag thread is good for openers and covers most needs. The assumption is zero source Z so if the source Z is consdiered, inrush is reduces but inrush time could be longer than the usual assumed 0.1 sec.
Alos, I believe that latest TP-1 designed dry transformeres have lower inrush but have not seen where any data is availabe.
Anyone out there with this data resource?
Jim
