Transformer load management in Distribution system

Hi guys,
I was wondering are there any other ways for transformer loads management?
In my country we usually used ampere meters measuring transformer load currents, but I don't think it is a very efficacious way of doing transformer load management, because loads are changing every minutes, as a result transformers are often overload or burn out during the Summer especially.
Can any one give me suggestions about doing transformer load management?

If you are measuring amperes during peak load periods, your method should work just fine.

There are other methods such as installing recording meters and make measurements for extended period and analysis later in the office, but the method is expensive.

A common way to keep track of transformer loads is to look at the energy billing of customers connected to the transformers and relate it to transformer demand with a load factor.
