Hello All,

I'm trying to find transformer mothball ( keep in place ,not use for a few months) procedure, Could anyone suggest me the standard or procedure about that? My application is distribution transformer 1600kVA- 22kV/400V.

Thanks for every suggestion.

You need to keep the humidty out, A heater strip or even a light bulb will keep the internal temp higher than the outside. If you wrap it be sure to have a vent, but you will want to keep out nesting criters.

There are some procedures for this on the ABB site.

Connect shorts between primary and secondary phases, then connect to ground.

Be sure to place a nitrogen blanket on the unit. Also keeps out moisture with out a heat source. For an extended period of out of service. Drain oil, and blanket with nitrogen. SphincterBoy has the other precaution covered ground all bushings.

Obviously, there are varying suggestions depending on whether you have a dry-type or liquid-filled transformer, as seen in the responses.
