Hello everybody

How can a three-dimensional FE analysis of a threaded screw (inserted into a material with an insertion torque) be substituted with an axisymmetric analysis of the same problem?

Please kindly share good references' links if are available.

Best regards,
Yunus.

You will have to approximate the thread with axisymmetric one. Check the article "Creating an axisymmetric model from 3D geometry in Abaqus" on Simuleon’s blog. Also check the example problem "Axisymmetric analysis of a threaded connection" in Anaqus documentation.

Maybe you could use cylindrical solid (CCL) elements instead of axisymmetric ones in this case.
