Transient Natural Gas Flow In The Pipeline
Hi,I am supposed to model transient natural gas flow in a single pipeline by means of Gambit& Fluent. I do'nt know much about the softwre. How does it act upon transient compressible flow? Please help. Regards.

You will first have to determine the variations of flow and/or pressure at each inlet and outlet point with time.

The object is that if the flow out of the pipeline is greater than the flow into the pipeline then the difference can be made up by the reduction in pressure (line pack) in the pipeline. To do this requires that you "pressure up" the pipeline during the off peak period so that you have sufficient pressure to meet the delivery contract.

Transient analyis in a liquids pipeline is a whole different ballgame.

most important in transient modelling is to fix your base case and to determine the relevant cases to investigate from this.

The tiresome thing about transient simulations is that people can continue to think up new cases all the time. Challange them on the relevance.

If you dont know the software and there is no time/money for classes (and you dont think you can learn it your self) then i dont think you can get much help here.

Best regards
