Hello,
I'm hoping someone can give me some tips on how to get started on a problem I'd like to model in Ansys v12 workbench.
I would like to model a wind turbine blade that is rotating at a constant velocity. This is made up of 3 blades equally spaced on a hub. I would like to apply a time varying load to the blade surfaces from the wind which changes as they rotate through space. I would also like to include the affects of gravity. I'm interested in the deflection and stress in the blades in one full rotation. I've got a few ideas about how to apply the load to the blade surfaces and I know how to include gravity.
What I'm struggling with is getting the blades and hub to rotate. What boundary conditions and loads would I need to apply? In the real world the blades would have to reach a certain torque before they moved, is there any way to include this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
George
