Translating a surface in only one direction?

I'm unsure how to title this query as it's stumped myself and my collegue. We are trying to move an imported CATIA IGS surface to it's correct position in our model. The issue we're running into is when we try to translate the surface using the "Construct 2 PointVector" after choosing a point and the node we need it moved to, it moves in the x and y directions when we only need it to move in the x direction. Is there something we're missing while trying to move this? Is there a simpler way? Can anyone help? Thanks.

You don't need to use the 'construct 2 PointVector' method. You can simply input <1 0 0> for global x direction.

If you want to select x direction of a specified coordiante system. You can use the x-coordinate filter by clicking the icon with a coordiante system and a number 1 on the selection filter bar. Then you can select the corresponding coordinate system.

I have entered the input as <1 0 0> but it will translate the surface in the x and z direction. We figured out a work around but just displacing the distance on the point we needed to create based off the surface anyways. It's just frustrating that nothing we tried worked.
