Some recommend RTV, and some are saying use anaerobic. On the disassembled CVT almost no sign of a sealer to clean off the cases. Need some ideas of what the OEM's use to seal the cases. And if it is an anaerobic type it has to be one that is compatible with Al. Searches of the net turn up almost nothing on this topic.

RTV silicones are permeable and will leak oil. Anaerobic sealants require close fitting flanges and don't tolerate temperatures above 350°F. Anaerobic sealants are non-fouling. Anaerobic sealants are ideal for this application.

Loctite 515 covers the most broad application range. There are other more specific flavors.

Thank you tugboat, 515 is also used on some general aviation aircraft engines.
