Transparency in inactive parts....???

Is it possible to assign transparency to "inactive" components in an ass'y? I can find where to set the color..... Prefrences.. Viz Pref.... color settings tab.... "Session settings", but there doesn't appear to be a way to do this. It is quite a handy thing to be able to
active a part and have the surrounding stuff fade to a transparent shade.

TIA for any help out there!

Hi,

Go to Visualization Preferences, then to Visual tab. Deselect Translucency if you don't want it on. This should work for you.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I'm afraid that is't what I'm trying to do. That switch disables the ability to assign translucency to parts... ass'y etc... But what I am trying to do is set the system up so that when I am in an ass'y and make one of the parts the "work part" the balance of the parts fade to a translucent grey. You can set any color you want for those inactive parts at the location I listed in my initial post. But there doesn't appear to be a way to set a translucency also.

This is such a nice thing to have the ability to see all around your work part but still be able to select and relate to the surrounding geo. without goofing around with
"blanking" "layers" or "translucency settings on individual parts".

Thanks Dave
