I’m searching for a transparent polymer to use in a outdoor small piping application. The objective is to the operator can look into the transparent section of the pipe and see if there is water running or if it’s dry. The working pressure is the atmospheric but the pipe can not be malleable. I’m looking for the cheaper solution possible

thank you patprimmer and HDS. Best regards

This is normally done with sight glasses or flow sights, which are common plumbing fixtures. McMaster-Carr carries them. If you want clear pipe, PVC is clear if it has no fillers to lower cost.

Clear PVC is not all that clear, contains plasticisers to make it mouldable without the opaque stabilisers and is not all that good to UV and after considering SG is not all that much cheaper than acrylic.
